Collares is an artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1985
and currently based in Somerset. They graduated from Middlesex University
with a BA (Hons) in
Fine Art in 2018. The artist is interested in postcolonial perspectives in art
and culture and investigates the influence of visual language in the
decolonisation of the traditional narratives regarding, especially, the History
practice is extremely detailed and labour intensive, the pieces present a clear
European aesthetics appeal intertwined with their varied cultural heritage. Currently, the
artist is volunteering around the United Kingdom with farming and is producing
a series of self-portraits and works inspired by their present
to write about their travels and life. Writing is a crucial part of their
has always played a huge role in their career. Seeing text as a
work of art itself
